An Evening with Southland

Dubbed “commendably stinting and cold, a series that doesn’t aim to please, and is all the more pleasurable for it" by the New York Times, Southland is a Los Angeles–set police procedural following in the glorified tradition of such shows as Dragnet, Police Story, and The Shield. Positioned as a “raw and authentic look” at a particular LAPD unit, the series explores both the personal and professional lives of the crimefighters, in addition to the stories behind the criminals and victims who circle in their orbit. Southland is one of those rare shows that begins life on a broadcast network—in this case NBC—and then moves over to basic cable, which is what happened when TNT picked up the series and commissioned new episodes in 2010. Join us as we screen a series of highlights from the series, followed by a Q&A with the cast and creative team.
